The Tahltan Nation was invited to the 2019 Hobiyee Celebration in the Nisga’a Village of Gingolx, on February 22, 2019.

Everyone in attendance was reminded of the long history between both Nations.

The fist recorded meeting between both Nations was in 1898 at Treaty Rock where Chiefs from both Nations made peace.

On February 12, 1977 both Nations met in Terrace to affirm that peace.

Once again on February 2, 1993 both Nations met to reaffirm the Peace Treaty and the boundaries between both Nations.

On May 3, 2016 both Nations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a Nation to Nation relationship.

At Hobiyee on February 22, 2019 both Nations participated in a signing ceremony – re-affirming and committing to continue implementing the guiding principles of the May 3, 2016 MOU. In addition, both Nations agreed to make their relationship an alliance; whereby both Nations work even closer together to address common objectives and concerns.

Hobiyee 2019 was incredible. Thank you to the Nisga’a Nation for your amazing hospitality.
