The Red Chris mine has an opportunity within the Assay Lab for an experienced Assayer. This temporary position is for work at the remote Red Chris mine located 80 km south of Dease Lake, BC in Tahltan traditional territory. The successful applicant will be required to work and stay in camp during their shift rotation. We offer a number of designated flight marshalling points within BC. RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Assay Lab Supervisor, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Strong commitment and adherence to all Safety Policies and Procedures
  • Follow the SOPs and Safety procedures
  • Collection of geological and metallurgical samples
  • Daily sample analysis using Good Laboratory Practices
  • Data analysis and validation
  • Instrument calibration and maintenance
  • Reagent and stock solution preparation and maintenance
  • Housekeeping of working areas
  • Inventory control and reporting
  • Any other assignments or projects assigned by the Assay Lab Supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Diploma or degree in Chemistry, considered an asset
  • Valid driver’s licence required (can be an L)
  • Minimum of 5 years experience – proficient in wet and fire assaying
  • Assayer certification considered an asset
  • Physically fit and able to lift 20kg of weight as part of the daily routine
  • Must have time management skills, strong attention to detail and work well under pressure
  • Competent in instrumentation including AA; C&S Analyser: Hg Analyser and other supporting laboratory equipment, including maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Computer skills involving instrument software, MS Office suite and LIMS
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision once familiar with requirements
  • A team player that works well with others
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
