To inform voters before the TCG elections scheduled for the 2025 Annual General Assembly, an Executive Candidates Debate will be held via Zoom on June 28th, 2025 at 6:00 PM.

  1. Each candidate will have 2 minutes to respond to each of three standard questions, selected in advance by the moderating team.
  2. The debate will then open to a Questions and Answer period for up to 60 minutes, during which time members in attendance can pose questions and each candidate will be given up to 2 minutes to reply.
  3. The debate will then close, with each candidate being given up to 3 minutes to make closing remarks regarding their platform.
  4. The moderator will have discretion to manage these timelines and the agenda as they see fit.

  • Each candidate has equal squeaking time: up to 2 minutes for each question, and 3 minutes for closing remarks. When time is up, the candidate will go on mute.
  • The order of speakers is determined by a random lottery and will be re-drawn after each question.
  • All discourse must be respectful—no personal attacks or inflammatory language. The moderating team can mute candidates when necessary. When candidates violate this rule, they sacrifice the rest of their time for the question. A second violation sacrifices time from their following response as well.
  • No interrupting other candidates. Everyone will be kept on mute but the candidate speaking.
  • The audience will also be muted. During the open Q&A period, members can (virtually) raise their hand to ask a question. The moderator will call on raised hands in order of appearance.
  • All questions must be respectful. The moderating team has discretion to mute members if questioning becomes disrespectful.
  • The chat will be open but not a forum for fielding questions. Disrespectful, disruptive or inflammatory comments will be removed.
  • The debate will be recorded and posted in the Members-Only section of TCG’s website.

7:00- 7:30 PM
  • Third Question to each Presidential Candidate – 20 minutes
  • Third Question to Vice President Candidates – 5 minutes
  • Third Question to Secretary Treasurer Candidates – 5 minutes

  • Break
7:45- 8:45 PM
  • Q&A
8:45- 9:15 PM
  • Closing Remarks
  • 3 minutes from each candidate

During the first part of the debate, each candidate in attendance will be asked up to three (3) standard questions. These standard questions will be chosen by the moderating team, consisting of three TCG representatives, from the collection of standard questions submitted by registered TCG members.

TCG members can submit questions for consideration to elections@tahltan.org from May 21st, 2025 to June 4th, 2025 at 11:59 PM

All registered TCG members are encouraged to submit questions for the Executive Candidates Debate.

As a reminder TCG’s moderating team ultimately has the discretion to decide which question(s) will be asked as standard question(s) during the first part of the Executive Candidates Debate.
