UPDATE: IR 13

Dear Tahltan Nation,

For a long time—across both previous and current leadership—we have heard from you that our Nation needs more housing, and our people want to see more coming back from development into our three communities.

During the Eskay Creek Revitalization Project IBA, you told us you wanted the opportunity to help finance housing and infrastructure improvements at home.

We carried that message to the table. We fought hard to secure those opportunities in the agreement, and we continue to push—working with the Provincial and Federal governments—to bring even more back to our Nation.

In February, leadership from all three governments met at Bear Paw to focus on turning that direction into action. A key priority coming out of those discussions is advancing IR 13 as a first step toward unlocking real progress on housing and infrastructure for our communities.

We also want to acknowledge and thank past leadership who helped move IR 13 to the point where this work can begin. That progress did not happen overnight, and it reflects years of effort and commitment to our people.

As part of moving this forward, we have directed Tahltan Nation Development Corporation—our economic arm—to begin clearing and grubbing work on IR 13, so that we can prepare the site for future housing and infrastructure development.

This is about following through on what we heard from you—making sure development leads to real, tangible improvements for our people, and building a stronger future for all three communities.

In unity and respect,

President Kerry Carlick — Chief Marie Quock — Chief Richard (Rocky) Jackson
