May 28, 2025 – The Tahltan Nation, through its three levels of government, stands resolute in its commitment to Free Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) and share the concerns of many First Nations regarding Bill 15.
The Tahltan Nation will continue to prioritize agreements and mining initiatives based on the priorities set forth by the Tahltan people, based on the recognition of our Title and Rights and upholding our laws and jurisdictions. Any project in Tahltan Territory hinges solely on Tahltan consent.
Over generations, the Tahltan people have worked to regulate the pace and scale of mining and resource development in our Territory. The BC government is now aligning with our vision and have agreed to work with us to make it a shared vision for all British Columbians. We are optimistic about this progress and will remain vigilant in ensuring its complete realization.
The Tahltan Nation remains steadfast in its commitment to upholding our Title and Rights, fostering sustainable development, and safeguarding our air, fish, land, water, and wildlife for future generations. We appreciate the ongoing dialogue with all stakeholders and look forward to shaping a shared future in partnership with the BC government and third parties.
